Grace is a Hong Kong qualified lawyer, a CEDR Accredited Mediator, a Professional Victim-Offender Mediator (VOM), a Fellow to both the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb) and the Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators (FHKIArb).
She is currently on the SCIA HK (South China International Arbitration Center (Hong Kong)) Recommended Panel of Arbitrators and the AALCO-HKRAC (Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation Hong Kong Regional Arbitration Centre) Reserve Panel of Arbitrators.
Grace read law at the University of Hong Kong (HKU) and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), with legal studies focus on arbitration, mediation, international legal and dispute resolution skills and practice, international economic governance, energy and climate change-related disputes and international environmental law, etc. She also received arbitral tribunal secretary training at the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), and investor-State mediator training jointly hosted by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR), Energy Charter Secretariat, International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID) and International Mediation Institute (IMI). She is a signatory in support of the Campaign for Greener Arbitration and the World Mediators Alliance on Climate Change.
Grace has attended courses in Chinese law and legal principles at Tsinghua University, peace and conflict studies at the Hopkins-Nanjing Center of Nanjing University, as well as Chinese diplomacy and international relations, conflict mediation and negotiation at the School of International Studies, Peking University in China. Realising the importance of mediation which has a solid historical and practical basis in both Eastern and Western civilisations, it serves as an international public good to bridge social and cultural differences, and foster constructive dialogues for peace and development of State parties and private entities. Grace applies micro-skills in mediation to resolve international investment and commercial disputes amicably, taking into account the parties’ existing relationships, cultural backgrounds, business customs, and time costs in order to achieve a mutually acceptable agreement for common long-term interests.
Grace is an alumni to HKU LLM ADR Programme with particular interest on sector-specific dispute resolution in a spectrum of industries, such as aerospace, aviation, construction, arts and entertainment, banking & development finance, healthcare and life sciences, intellectual property, insolvency, maritime and treaty-based investment, etc. To promote mediation advocacy and non-violent communication through education, Grace regularly participates in the judging sessions of the Willem C Vis East International Arbitration Moot (Vis East Moot), AIAC APAC Vis Pre-Moot, Young International Mediation Competition (YIMC), ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition, and the International Humanitarian Law (IHL) Moot jointly hosted by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and HKU. She also coaches secondary school students in Peer Mediation Competition on a pro bono basis.
