Shreyas Jayasimha

Shreyas Jayasimha read law at the National Law School of India University and was a Chevening Scholar at the University of Warwick. With over 23 years of experience in litigation, domestic and international dispute resolution, Shreyas has advised and represented clients across a variety of industrial sectors before various Tribunals, High Courts and the Supreme Court of India. He is a trained mediator and has been appointed as an arbitrator in India and internationally.


In addition to acting as a co-counsel for the Republic of India in two significant investment treaty arbitrations, Shreyas has been engaged to act as counsel in significant domestic and international commercial arbitrations, as well as in Court proceedings arising out of or in connection with such arbitrations. Shreyas was also called upon and instructed by the Department of Space to file a declaration on behalf of the Republic of India before a United States District Court in proceedings arising out of an arbitration under the India- Mauritius BIT.
Shreyas has in June 2023 been appointed as member of the expert committee constituted by the Ministry of Law & Justice to examine and recommend reforms to arbitration law in India. Shreyas is also a member of the executive committee of the Foundation for International Arbitration Advocacy (FIAA), Geneva since 2012, the National Coordinator for the UNCITRAL National Coordination Committee of India (UNCCI) and a member of the Mumbai Centre for International Arbitration (MCIA) Council. Shreyas is the only India based representative of the ICC-FraudNet which formed the Asset Recovery Group India (ARGI) to pursue substantial value cross border asset recovery claims for Indian Banks, ARCs and other creditors. Shreyas is also the Vice-Chair of LAWASIA UNCITRAL Committee and regularly participates in deliberations of the Working Group – III on investor state dispute settlement.


Shreyas co-founded Simha Law Pte. Ltd., a Foreign Law Practice licensed to advise on all matters of Indian law at Maxwell Chamber Suites, Singapore.
