Rajesh Sharma

Dr. Rajesh Sharma is a Mediator and Arbitrator with over two decades of global experience in mediation and dispute resolution. He currently teaches in the Legal and Dispute Studies stream at RMIT University, Melbourne, where he has been since 2015, after serving as an Assistant Professor at the City University of Hong Kong.

Dr. Sharma has delivered advanced training in mediation across more than 18 jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, India, Australia, and several Southeast Asian and African countries. He serves as a Legal Advisor to the Macau University of Science and Technology and provides advisory services to transnational corporations on trade and investment policy in China. His work includes conducting programs for the WTO and UNITAR, and he is associated with the African Centre for Legal Excellence in Uganda for capacity-building initiatives.

In recognition of his contributions to mediation education, Dr. Sharma received the Australian ADR Teacher Award in 2022. He has designed and implemented the world’s first International ADR Moot, integrating both arbitration and mediation roles. He also founded the Asia-Pacific Vis Pre Moot in 2021, the first disability-inclusive arbitration competition, aimed at providing opportunities for students with disabilities in arbitration advocacy.

Dr. Sharma is actively involved in various mediation centers and has been appointed as an International Expert Mediator at several organizations, including the Hong Kong-Mainland Joint Mediation Centre and the Japan International Mediation Centre in Kyoto. His contributions to UNCITRAL include evaluating mediation laws in Asia and providing expert comments on cross-border settlement enforcement.

Dr. Sharma holds a PhD in Law from the Chinese University of Political Science and Law, a Master of Business Law from Monash University, and an M.Phil from City University of Hong Kong. His professional training includes mediation training from the Plowshares Institute and the Accord Group, negotiation training from Harvard Law School, and arbitration training from WIPO and the ICC.

With a focus on mediation, Dr. Sharma combines practical experience with academic rigor, providing culturally attuned mediation for complex transnational disputes.
